On Saturday, October 19, 2024, Jake Fuller sat for his Final Eagle Board and was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout! He was escorted by Mr. Poholsky.
Jake spoke about his project where he refurbished the Clarkstown Crew equipment trailer. He worked with the beneficiary and troop to clean and decal the outside, design and install a new shelving system for organizing specific crew gear, update the inside lighting system, and install a new pivoting wheel. Jake described how he had a detailed plan for each work day, and exercised leadership by directing and managing workers at his project days. Jake spoke about his leadership roles as Outdoor Ethics Guide, Patrol Leader, and currently Senior Patrol Leader. He described his most rewarding experiences as when he sees other scouts succeeding, and continues to celebrate them as SPL. He recalled his own successful experience at Klondike as Patrol Leader, where he lost the tracking form he was supposed to use. He remembers working together with his patrol to ultimately find the paper and lead them to a successful day.
Jake also recalled his most enjoyable experience being early on in his scouting career at Bullowa.
It was one of his first outings and he was working on requirements for Scout Rank with an older scout. He remembered that scout investing time in his success. He also listed campouts, backpacking, Summit, and a sense of bonding with fellow scouts as some of his most fun experiences. Jake named Swimming as his favorite Merit Badge, which he took in his first year at NOBE. He believes that Communications is the most important MB as it applies to life in general. Jake was an active participant in National Youth Leadership Training and Troop Leadership Training, which he relied on his communication skills to be successful.
During his final Eagle Board, Jake was calm and cool, smiling and laughing with those sitting on boards. He gave detailed descriptions of his project, leadership experiences, and his time in scouting. Jake plans to enter the Air Force Academy and is interested in Aero-Space Engineering. He will utilize many of the skills he has practiced throughout his time in scouting, especially to trust in himself to be able to lead people. Jake believes that it is important to be loyal, and stick with his good morals in promoting growth in others. Jake’s advice to scouts is to “go for Eagle”. He also suggests that they attend NYLT and as many leadership programs as possible. As current SPL, Jake is continuing to blaze his own trail with his SPL Spiel at meetings, and his words of support to his troop.
Please join me in congratulating Jake for achieving this milestone!
